Singapore has overtaken Silicon Valley as world’s No. 1 for start-up talent, according to a 150 page research report by by Startup Genome project, that covered 10,000 start-ups.
Singapore’s access to quality talent enabled it to win it’s rivals. The island nation has the fourth and second best ecosystem for start-ups to access experienced software engineers and growth employees.
High salaries is one of the reasons why Silicon Valley lost its top talent ranking. The salary of an average software engineer salary in Singapore, is US$35,000 (S$49,000) as compared to a global average of US$49,000.
Not good news for local bred Singapore software engineers though, as their salaries are below the global average.
